Partnering Opportunities

Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) strives to keep alive the achievements and sacrifices made by those who served Canada in times of war, military conflict and peace. Engaging Canadians in the remembrance of these achievements and sacrifices is one of the key objectives of VAC's Canada Remembers Program; however, VAC also recognizes that it does not and cannot stand alone in honouring Veterans' achievements and sacrifices.

In pursuing its objective to engage Canadians in remembrance, the Canada Remembers Program often partners with groups and organizations who share these mutual commemorative goals. Partnering includes establishing and fostering collaborative relationships, providing in-kind support, and when possible, providing modest funding, on a reimbursement basis, to deliver remembrance activities and events at both the national and regional levels.

To be considered for funding, organizations are required to submit proposals that will enable Canada Remembers to fully assess the merits of the activity/event. Activities and events that would be considered for funding include, but are not limited to, remembrance activities that engage youth and/or communities, education and information products of a commemorative nature, research related to the remembrance of Canadian military heritage, and the development and organization of commemorative materials, events and activities. Consideration will be given to all commemorative projects; however, funds are not available to individuals or for profit businesses, capital costs (ie costs associated with purchasing, constructing, developing and acquiring tangible assets such as monuments, land, buildings, or equipment), ongoing operational expenses, projects that duplicate the efforts of the Canada Remembers Program, or projects that require ongoing funding.

Although funding is limited, VAC would be pleased to learn of the many worthwhile commemorative initiatives proposed by the Canadian public. Information and/or questions about partnering opportunities may be directed to 1-877-604-8489 or by writing:
