Veterans' Week 2001

Veterans' Week 2001 is a time of remembrance designed to honour all those who served Canada in the causes of war and peace. Each year Canadians are reminded about the men and women whose courageous efforts have given this country our legacy of democracy and tolerance and have contributed to our growth as a nation. Canadians owe our veterans and peacekeepers a debt of gratitude for the sacrifices they've made in the defence of freedom and the pursuit of world peace. This year, as Canadian peacekeepers are deployed to the Arabian Sea and other points around the World, we must honour and express our gratitude in even greater numbers than before. Veterans' Week 2001 is an effort to recognize the heavy price our veterans, soldiers, and peacekeepers pay in terms of the lives sacrificed, the health forfeited and the hopes unfulfilled as they continue to defend all that Canada stands for. -- Lest we forget.
