Families are a top priority for the Québec government. A number of pro-family measures have been implemented in recent years. One of these is the Québec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP). This plan, in effect since January 1, 2006, is a concrete way for workers to balance family and work responsibilities. It is designed to financially support new parents, encourage them to have children and help them spend more time with their children in the first months of their life.
