PETTIGREW - VISIT TO NEW YORK - WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM

Media representatives are advised that International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew is visiting New York City from January 31 to February 4, 2002.

During his visit, Mr. Pettigrew will participate in various events related to the World Economic Forum meeting, including a workshop entitled, "After Doha: Now Comes the Tough Part."

On Saturday, February 2, the Minister will be joined by Industry Minister Allan Rock in co-hosting a breakfast for top CEOs from India and Canada, and Yashwant Sinha, Minister of Finance of India. Both Canadian ministers will also co-host an investment lunch later that day.

Mr. Pettigrew will also hold several political bilateral and investment meetings, as well as participating in a WTO working breakfast hosted by the Director General of the WTO, Mike Moore.
