Media representatives are advised that International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew will travel to Washington, D.C., on
Thursday, September 19.
Minister Pettigrew will meet with Donald Evans, Secretary of Commerce of the United States.
Mr. Pettigrew, Canadian parliamentarians and representatives of the Canadian softwood lumber industry will attend a
reception organized by the Canadian embassy, joined by members and staff of the U.S. House of Representatives and the
Senate. This event will provide an opportunity for Canadians to once again advocate Canada's position in the softwood
lumber trade dispute to politicians and those with links to the media and the legal and academic world.
On Friday, September 20, the Minister will take part in a media round table.
The Minister will be accompanied by the following members of Parliament: Stéphane Bergeron (BQ, Verchères-Les-Patriotes); Robert Bertrand (Lib., Pontiac-Labelle-Gatineau); Brian Masse (NDP, Windsor); and Pat O'Brien (Lib.,
London-Fanshawe).
