GRAHAM - SPEECH TO GOPAC

Media representatives are advised that Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham will deliver an address on Tuesday, October 15, at the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) Conference.

The Conference, which will be held in Ottawa from October 13 to 16, will bring together an estimated 165 parliamentarians from around the world to examine three themes: Individual Parliamentarians Fighting Corruption; Parliament's Oversight Role; and Parliament: An Institution Operating with Integrity. Canadian Member of Parliament John Williams, who is Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Commons on Public Accounts, will chair the conference.

GOPAC is an international network of parliamentarians organized by region to fight corruption and promote effective governance. GOPAC will formally be launched as an institution during the Conference when members adopt a new constitution.
