KILGOUR - VISIT TO JAPAN AND CHINA

Media representatives are advised that David Kilgour, Secretary of State (Asia-Pacific), will visit Japan and China from
October 15 to 22, 2002.
In Tokyo, Mr. Kilgour will meet with parliamentarians and Japanese vice-ministers from the ministries of Economy, Trade
and Industry, Education, and Foreign Affairs. Discussions will focus on a broad range of bilateral issues with a particular
emphasis on educational linkages. The Secretary of State will also meet with Canadian and Japanese business people.
While in Sapporo, Japan, from October 17 to 19, Mr. Kilgour will deliver the keynote address at the Disabled Peoples'
International 6th World Assembly.
While in Beijing, from October 19 to 22, Mr. Kilgour will meet with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He will
also tour a CIDA agricultural project managed by an Alberta company, Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd., and hold
discussions with Canadian business representatives.
