News releaseFilm services units provide single-window tax service to film and television production industry in CanadaOttawa, June 27, 2000... The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) has created specialized film services units (FSUs) in tax services offices in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montréal to better serve Canada's film and television production industry. More than 90% of Canadian film and television production activities are concentrated in these three centres. The CCRA announced plans in 1999 to create specialized FSUs to meet needs identified during consultations with the film and video industry. The FSUs have been providing partial services to the industry since January 2000, and became fully operational on June 5. The FSUs are providing single-window access to specialized tax information and services related to the film and television production industry. They also provide information and services needed by foreign film and video companies, actors, and behind-the-scenes workers involved in Canadian productions. The CCRA continues to consult with the industry through the Film Industry Advisory Committee. The discussions and feedback help promote compliance with Canada's tax laws, allow the CCRA to provide better service to the industry, and help increase the industry's awareness of Canadian tax laws.
