The March Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) payments should reach recipients by March 20, 2000. The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) expects to issue more than $521 million in CCTB payments to more than 2.8 million recipients across Canada this month. Clients can have these payments deposited directly into their accounts at their financial institutions. To take advantage of this option, clients have to complete Form T1-DD, Direct Deposit Request, which they can get at their tax services office or tax centre. Both spouses have to file a tax return to receive or continue to receive CCTB payments. Payments for the following provincial and territorial child benefit programs administered by the CCRA will also be issued:
Entitlements under these programs are combined each month with the Canada Child Tax Benefit into a single payment. Clients who are expecting a benefit payment and have not received it by March 26 should contact the CCRA's CCTB enquiry service at the following numbers: Calgary (403) 233-5137 (English) Outside these areas, clients can call 1-800-387-1193 toll free for service in English and 1-800-387-1194 for service in French.
