Revenue Canada issues May Canada Child Tax Benefit payments

Ottawa, May 20, 1999...The May Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) payments should reach recipients by May 20, 1999. Revenue Canada expects to issue more than $495 million in CCTB payments to more than 2.9 million recipients across Canada this month.

Clients can have these payments deposited directly into their accounts at their financial institutions. To take advantage of this option, clients have to complete Form T1-DD, Direct Deposit Request, which they can get at their tax services office or tax centre. Both spouses have to file a tax return to receive CCTB payments.

Payments for the following provincial and territorial child benefit programs administered by Revenue Canada will also be issued:

  • the British Columbia Family Bonus;
  • the New Brunswick Child Tax Benefit;
  • the Saskatchewan Child Benefit;
  • the Northwest Territories Child Benefit; and
  • the Nova Scotia Child Benefit.

Entitlements under these programs are combined each month with the Canada Child Tax Benefit into a single payment.

Clients who are expecting a benefit payment and have not received it by May 28 should contact Revenue Canada's CCTB enquiry service at the following numbers:
