Revenue Canada issues April Child Tax Benefit payments

OTTAWA, April 21, 1998...The April Child Tax Benefit (CTB) payments have now been issued. Revenue Canada sent $449,067,785 in CTB payments to 2,955,042 recipients across Canada this month.

Clients can have these payments deposited directly into their accounts at their financial institutions. To take advantage of this option, clients have to complete Form T1-DD, Direct Deposit Request, which they can get at their tax services office or tax centre. Both spouses have to file a tax return to receive CTB payments.

Clients who are expecting a benefit payment and have not received it by April 27, 1998, should contact Revenue Canada's CTB enquiry service at the following numbers:
