Revenue Canada issues February Child Tax Benefit cheques

OTTAWA, February 9, 1998...The February Child Tax Benefit (CTB) payments should reach recipients by Friday, February 20, 1998. Revenue Canada expects to issue $428,808,437 in CTB payments to 2,926,198 recipients across Canada this month.

Clients can have these payments deposited directly into their accounts at their financial institutions. To take advantage of this option, clients have to complete Form T1-DD, Direct Deposit Request, which they can get at their tax services office or tax centre. Both spouses have to file a tax return to receive CTB payments.

Clients who are expecting a benefit payment and have not received it by February 27, 1998, should contact Revenue Canada's CTB enquiry service at the following numbers:
