Revenue Canada issues September Canada Child Tax Benefit payments

OTTAWA, September 18, 1998...The September Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) enhanced payments should reach recipients by September 18, 1998. Revenue Canada expects to issue $471,228,550.63 in CCTB payments to 2,812,101 recipients across Canada this month.Clients can have these payments deposited directly into their accounts at their financial institutions. To take advantage of this option, clients have to complete Form T1-DD, Direct Deposit Request, which they can get at their tax services office or tax centre. Both spouses have to file a tax return to receive CCTB payments.

Clients who are expecting a benefit payment and have not received it by September 25, 1998, should contact Revenue Canada's CCTB enquiry service at the following numbers:
