Site Description

This page describes the design and layout of the Assistive Technology Links Web site. This information is offered to help users of screen readers navigate the site. (For an overview of the accessibility features of this site visit the Help page.)

Assistive Technology Links web pages are divided into 5 parts. Here each part is described by name, its location on the page, its purpose and the type of content provided.

The description begins at the top of the page and then proceeds left to right down the page.

Part 1 : Federal Identity block.

Location : Immediate top of the page and indented off the left margin about one fifth the width of the page.

Purpose : To identify the page as a Government of Canada web site.

Contents : A set of 2 graphic images arranged across the top of the page. On the immediate left of the page is a small Canadian flag. Immediately to the right of the flag, there the phrase Industry Canada in English appears followed directly by the French phrase Industrie Canada. The final image appears on the right side of the page. It is the word Canada with a small Canadian flag positioned immediately above the last "a" in Canada.

Immediately following the Federal Identity block is a link that permits you to skip over the next section and go directly to the start of the main content part.

Part 2 : Site Navigation Bar

Location : Top of the page immediately below the Federal Identity block.

Purpose : To provide you with easy access to common items of interest.

In some older graphical browsers, this menu may appear near the bottom of the page. Users of screen-readers will usually find these links at or near the end of the page.

Purpose : To provide you with access to the Web sites of our partners in the Persons With Disabilities On-Line group.

Contents : The menu contains links with black text on a yellow background. Some links include an icon or image representing the link. The links are :

Part 4 : Page Body or Main Content

Purpose : The body of a page contains the information or links to other sites as described by the page's title.

Part 5 : Page Footer
