ADIO: About Us

Objective

ADIO was created to provide a window into the Federal Government for the Assistive Technology (AT) and Rehabilitation Engineering Research Sectors. It also works to ensure that the Industry Portfolio programmes and services are accessible to Canadians with disabilities.

General Description

The workplan for ADIO is divided into three broad areas of activity:

  1. Industrial Development Strategy which includes encouraging the development and promotion of accessibility standards, promoting the AT Sector through newsletters, web-sites and conference presentations, the promotion and update of the Accessible Procurement Toolkit which educates managers in procurement issues and managing AT-Links which is the AT portal of the Government on-line Disability Cluster.

  2. Market Development and Support which includes the development of statistics on the Canadian AT sector and linking with other industry sectors.

  3. Industry Liaison and Advocacy which includes support to the Minister's Advisory Committee, working with international bodies such as the EU and working with other government and non government bodies.
