Legal Services Division

The Legal Services Division provides legal services to the Crown and promotes the fair and lawful administration of public affairs in accordance with the law. The following programs and services are part of this division:
  • Solicitor Services Section
The Solicitor Services Section provides legal advice and representation to all government departments and agencies.
  • Civil Litigation Section
The Civil Litigation Section has the conduct of all civil proceedings by or against the Crown before courts and tribunals.
  • Registry of Regulations
The Office of the Registrar of Regulations files and indexes Nova Scotia regulations.

New regulations are published bi-weekly in the Royal Gazette Part II. A cumulative index containing regulations by Act, sectional index and proclamations is issued quarterly. Office consolidations of updated regulations are provided to the legal community and general public in the form of printouts, computer files on disk and faxes, and are now available on the Nova Scotia Regulations CD-ROM. Go to the Registry Homepage for more information about the Registry and to see what is available on line.

On April 29, 1996 the Office of the Royal Gazette Part I relocated to the Department of Justice. The Royal Gazette Part I is the official weekly government record of Cabinet proclamations, Orders in Council and notices pursuant to statutes.
