Strategic Outcomes and Priorities
This figure represents the Department of Justice's strategic outcomes
and priorities for 2005-2006. Under each strategic outcome there are
program activities and priorities. At the bottom of the figure are the
Department's Corporate Priorities.
In the left hand column, the strategic outcome is: A fair, relevant and
accessible justice system that reflects Canadian values.
For this outcome, the Program Activities are: develop policies and laws;
deliver programs; and, manage and coordinate the strategic
policies/priorities function.
The Priorities are: promoting access to and improving efficiencies in
the justice system; protecting the most vulnerable; including children
and youth, and promoting human dignity; achieving Aboriginal justice;
and, responding to international requests and advancing international
human rights law.
In the right hand column, the Strategic outcome is a federal government
that is supported by effective and responsive legal services.
For this outcome, the Program Activities are: provide legislative
services to government; provide legal, advisory and litigation services
to government; and, provide prosecution services.
The Priorities are: supporting our clients with high-quality legal
services; establishing a sustainable funding strategy; improving
Performance Measurement and Accountability; Managing legal risk; and,
combatting high-tech crime, organized crime and terrorism.
The Corporate Priorities for the Depatment of Justice for 2005-2006 are:
sustainability of the Funding Regime; Strategic Information,
Accountability and Performance; Management of the Volume of Litigation;
and, People Development, Management and Diversity.
