About the Strategic Policy and Operations
Directorate |

The Strategic Policy and Operations Directorate analyses and
coordinates information on issues that are the responsibility of more that
one branch or directorate within the Department, the Portfolio and/or the
federal government. The Directorate takes the lead on issues that don’t
fall squarely any other directorate’s area of responsibility, and provides
policy advice on broad governmental initiatives from a Department of the
Solicitor General perspective.
The Strategic Policy and Operations Directorate is also responsible
for partnerships with national voluntary organizations,
federal-provincial-territorial relations, liaison with the Canadian Centre
for Justice Statistics, administration of the Department’s
responsibilities for requests under the Access to Information and
Privacy Act, and provision of advice to the Minister to help him in
fulfilling his responsibilities for the Portfolio, in Parliament and in
Cabinet.
