To protect Canadians and ensure public safety, the
Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada collaborates with the
Portfolio agencies and other government departments to develop strategic
policies in support of the Department's international activities.
To this end, the Department prepares briefing materials
for the Solicitor General, Deputy Solicitor General and other senior
officials. It also works to identify trends and emerging priority issues
in public safety and security that impact on the Department's
international interests.
The Department also conducts complex
research projects pertaining to international issues of public safety. It
also monitors high-level bilateral relations and multilateral negotiations
and activities that impact on the Department's interests.
