NRC-IRC Nanotechnology

Nanolayered calcium aluminate particles
Nanolayered calcium aluminate particles

Nanotechnology is engineering at the nanoscale to produce materials and devices with unique properties that cannot be achieved using traditional materials. NRC-IRC is using nanotechnology to develop novel products for the construction industry. Construction is heavily dependent on materials and NRC-IRC's goal is to ensure that both the industry and the people who use its products benefit fully from this revolutionary new technology. NRC-IRC is working on nanotechnology for a wide variety of construction applications, ranging from new materials for buildings, roads and bridges, through retrofitting and repair technologies to fire prevention. NRC-IRC is also exploring how nanoscale particles affect indoor air quality. Our interdisciplinary team of researchers has access to unique facilities to support this research and collaborates with other researchers from across the National Research Council.
