Public Exploit related to the Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in Microsoft Server Service (MS06-040)

Purpose

PSEPC is aware of a public exploit that is related to the vulnerability outlined in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-040.

Assessment

There is a remote code execution vulnerability in Server Service that could allow an attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability to take complete control of the affected system.

Suggested action

PSEPC recommends that system administrators test and apply the patch provided by Microsoft (MS06-040) as soon as possible.
