About the College

The College

The Canadian Emergency Management College is a federal government learning institution providing programs and resources to the emergency management community across Canada. The College is an integral part of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada and supports its responsibility to enhance learning in all four pillars of emergency management.

Originally established in 1954 to provide programs in wartime civil defence planning, the College has evolved its role and mandate to meet the continuously changing needs of Canadians. Today the core courses offered by the College focus on the management of a multi-service response to an emergency situation. Other aspects of emergency planning and management are addressed in additional courses, seminars and workshops.

The College is located at the Federal Study Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. It offers full classroom facilities and field training, as well as accommodations and meals for registered students.
