Administrative Assistant

This is a term position until 30 March 2007.

Background
Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences (SIMS) carries out leading edge, interdisciplinary research and innovation in molecular sciences. Our research programs are underpinned by expertise in molecular photonics, structure and dynamics of materials and interfaces and molecular/materials synthesis. In partnership with other NRC Institutes, universities, industry and other research organizations across Canada and worldwide, SIMS catalyzes the convergence of these platforms for a wide range of future applications. http://sims.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca

Your Challenge
Assisting preparing a principal research officer with administrative duties. These will include assist with grant applications, scientific papers, major reviews, reference letters, filtering and writing E-mails and keeping track of the commitments of the PRO. Assistance in making travel arrangements, completing travel forms and helping to ensure that NRC travel reports are completed in a timely manner. . Assistance in pdf and student recruiting, student and visiting scientists’ seminars and laboratory visits.

Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates.

Education
Secondary School graduation

Experience
Experience in general office work. Experience with MS office software. Experience with making travel arrangements and seminars setting would be considered an asset.

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Knowledge of general office procedures. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external clients, to perform multiple tasks, working closely with one supervisor, yet to work independently.

Relocation

Salary Range
From $29,602 to $37,937 per annum.
