Research Programs The Institute's core and collaborative research projects concentrate on strategic technology areas with the highest potential impact on the manufacturing sector in Canada . NRC-IMTI priority areas include technologies to develop or improve manufacturing processes at the component level as well as at the machine and systems level that are crucial to the competitiveness of the Canadian industry . The Institute 's research programs are designed to address the industrial needs of flexibility and rapid response time for the development of new products and processes, and reconfigurable manufacturing systems. The Institute will continue to develop leadership capability, team values and a results-oriented culture focused on research, innovation and quality work that benefit clients, collaborators and stakeholders. The current activities in the research programs are: Precision and Freeform Fabrication Technologies Virtual and Reconfigurable Manufacturing Technologies Collaborative Research Projects NRC-IMTI's strategy is to develop, with its partners and collaborators, R&D activities to create value for Canada . The Institute welcomes collaborations in areas of national priority and sustainable manufacturing.
