Collaborative Research Collaboration is the cornerstone of NRC-IMTI's program. We're willing to share the work associated with selected manufacturing research projects. The generic technologies that we develop are essential to product designers, component and sub-system suppliers; equipment suppliers, software and system integrators; automotive, aerospace, electronics and medical devices and other product manufacturers. Special Interest Groups (SIGs) The Special Interest Group is a proven concept of technology platforms. The pre-competitive R&D conducted caters to the needs of industry by increasing awareness levels of emerging technologies and to accelerate technology transfer to the participating members. NRC-IMTI has launched three technology platforms: Precision Freeform Fabrication Technologies Precision Micro-fabrication Technologies Reconfigurable and Flexible Manufacturing Technologies. SIGs are a cost-effective way for companies to leverage R&D investments and reduce technology development cycles through collaboration. Each year, deliverables are identified and results of the common projects are shared with all members. Members can also customise and implement emerging technologies through targeted projects. Intellectual Property Licensing Intellectual property created by NRC-IMTI, such as patents, trade secrets and expertise, can be licensed for commercial exploitation by industry. We support Canadian industry in becoming a global leader in advanced manufacturing while encouraging further innovation. Fee for Service Work NRC-IMTI will provide special services to industry within the technical competencies available and where private sector service providers are not able to offer such services. Fee for service work is conducted in a professional and business manner through a contractual agreement, with deliverables clearly identified. Fee for service work and results are kept in strict confidence. For more information please contact: NRC-Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Institute |
