Canada's Organic Industry-Fact Sheet

Organic agriculture is a holistic system of production with a principle goal to develop productive enterprises that are suitable and harmonious with the environment. Organic foods are produced without the use of chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides, processed without the use of irradiation, and are not derived through genetic engineering.

Organic Agriculture - Canadian General Standards Board

Organic Production System Task Force (OTF)

Throughout 2005 and 2006, in consultation with the organic industry and Canada’s provincial and territorial governments and additional federal institutions, the task force will work towards the development and implementation of an organic standard and certification system for effective consumer protection and to meet the December 31, 2006 European Union third-country equivalence list deadline for national organic production systems.

The Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada (OACC) is dedicated to enhancing the environmental and social integrity of agriculture.
