What is stomach cancer? Canadian Cancer Society

Stomach cancer starts in the cells of the stomach. The most common type of stomach cancer starts in the glandular cells in the stomach lining (adenocarcinoma). Less common types of stomach cancer start in the lymphatic tissue (lymphoma) and muscular tissue (sarcoma) of the stomach.
