FILAO

The optical fibre link between PUEO and OSIS on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope

At the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope FILAO will provide a new integral field link between PUEO, mounted to the Cassegrain bonnette of the telescope, and the near-IR spectrograph OSIS, located on the observatory level of the telescope.  FILAO consists of a 198 fiber bundle, 23 metres long, combined with microlens arrays to provide the best collection efficiency and to fit the different aperture beams.  When combined with a focal enlarger located behind the AOB, FILAO will provide two spatial resolution samplings (0.15 arcseconds and 0.4 arcseconds) in the I,J,H bands with a 200 to 3000 spectral resolution.  The operating wavelength is 0.5 um to 1.8 um with a priority range around 1.25 um.  The field of view is 1.6 arcseconds by 2.3 arcseconds with 0.15 arcsecond spatial resolution.
