The CFHT Legacy Survey - Very Wide (CFHTLS-VW)

The Canadian and French astronomical communities are conducting a major astronomical survey with the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) MegaPrime camera.

More than 450 nights over 5 years will be devoted to the CFHTLS, using the new wide field focus MegaPrime with the MegaCam digital camera. MegaPrime provides a field of view of at least one square degree with an excellent image quality.

The CFHTLS-VW is comprised of 3 major components with complementary observing constraints:

  • Very Wide
  • Wide
  • Deep

Each component of the survey is co-ordinated by a different group of astronomers. The CFHTLS-VW is coordinated out of NRC-HIA in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
