NRC-BRI Network

   NRC's Biotechnology Institutes and Programs

The National Research Council Biotechnology Program consists of six institutes located across Canada. In collaboration with IRAP and CISTI, they work together to promote technology transfer and knowledge dissemination. These institutes stimulate and support research efforts in the health, environment, plant genetics, and aquaculture sectors.

The NRC's Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences (NRC-SIMS, Ottawa, Ontario) supports the biotechnology program with specific basic research.

The NRC's Genomics and Health Initiative (NRC-GHI) is an integral part of the NRC biotechnology program. It brings the benefits of revolutionary advances in the genome sciences and health research to a variety of Canadian industrial sectors and regions.

NRC's Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP)
NRC-IRAP is a vital component in Canada's innovation system. NRC-IRAP provides Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) with value-added technological and business advice, financial assistance and a range of other innovation assistance.

NRC's Canadian Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (NRC-CISTI)
NRC-CISTI is a world-renowned source for information in all areas of science, technology, engineering, and medicine.

   Strategic Partnerships

Montréal Centre of Excellence in Brownfields Rehabilitation (MCEBR)
The Centre promotes, supports and implements research, development and experimental programs in the areas of soil decontamination or site rehabilitation.

International Network of Protein Engineering Centers (INPEC)
INPEC is a group of national centers involved in the promotion of basic and applied research in the field of protein engineering.

Montreal Centre for Experimental Therapeutics in Cancer (MCETC)
MCETC is a multidisciplinary and inter-university team of experts focusing on the development of innovative therapies, drugs, and technologies, for the treatment of cancer.

Genome Canada
Genome Canada is dedicated to developing and implementing a national strategy in genomics and proteomics research for the benefit of Canadians.
