Licensing Opportunities

Transforming our knowledge into commercial success

Existing Licenses
 Available Technologies and Know-how
 Business and Research Support Directorate

In the course of our research activities, whether carried out for Institute purposes or in collaboration with industrial partners, intellectual property is generated. Where commercial opportunities are anticipated, protection is sought through patent applications.

Intellectual Property created by INMS, consisting primarily of patents but also including trade secrets, expertise and know-how, is available for licensing by (preferably) Canadian companies for commercial exploitation.

The Institute can be flexible in determining licensing conditions to accommodate the needs of the company and the realities of the market. Licences may be exclusive or non-exclusive, and conditions may apply to applications, geography, duration, and sales activity. Royalties may be associated with sales, subjected to minimums, and vary with time and volume.

The objective of the Institute is to support Canadian industry and to recover its research investment costs by sharing in the success of its licensees. Royalties from licensing provide support for further research, funds to finance further patents, and incentive awards to inventors and innovators.

New Technology to Measure Concentration of Cross-linking By-products in Plastics

A novel optical technique has been developed to determine the concentration of by-products in chemically cross-linked plastic materials. Unlike presently employed analytical techniques, the optical method involves in-situ detection of thermoluminescence (TL) emitted by the cross-linking by-products during the initial thermal treatmemt. The intensity of the emitted light provides a direct measurement of the concentration of the cross-linking by-products in the material. FULL STORY
