Employment at Ocean Nutrition Canada has jumped from 30 people in 1998 to 140 in 2000. ONC has a manufacturing plant in Mulgrave, new laboratory facilities in Halifax and a head office in Bedford.
Employment at Ocean Nutrition Canada has jumped from 30 people in 1998 to 140 in 2000. ONC has a manufacturing plant in Mulgrave, new laboratory facilities in Halifax and a head office in Bedford.

Partnering with NRC's Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) and the Institute for Marine Biosciences (IMB), Halifax-based Ocean Nutrition Canada Ltd. (ONC), a subsidiary of Clearwater Fine Foods has become a nutraceutical leader.

ONC has a proprietary technology for refining and concentrating long chain Omega-3 products from fish oil. Omega-3's have been clinically proven to impact on mental functioning and are a natural anti-inflammatory.

ONC also produces a glucosamine product derived from shrimp shells which is used for relieving symptoms of osteoarthritis. ONC's primary research activity is Bioassay Guided Screening for new active compounds from marine organisms found in the North Atlantic waters around Nova Scotia.
