Thermometry

The Thermometry Group provides Canadian science and industry with traceability to the SI unit of temperature, the kelvin (K). It does this by implementing primary standards based on the definition of the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90), and by offering a calibration service which is linked to the primary standards.

These core activities set the direction of the research programs, which include the realization of primary fixed points, studies of the effects that limit the accuracies of the realizations and measurement instrumentation, and improvements in the scale itself.
