Dr. Gabrielle Adams
Director General, NRC Institute for Biological Sciences
Dr. Gabrielle Adams, Director General of NRC's Institute for Biological Sciences, received her B.Sc. (Hon.) in Biology and Chemistry from McMaster University (Hamilton ON) and her Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology from Carleton University (Ottawa ON).
In 1967, she joined NRC as a post-doctorate fellow and then continued her research at Carleton University on the role of nuclear proteins in cell differentiation. In 1975 she joined the Publishing Office of NRC's Research Journals of which she became Manager in 1978. Since 1982, she has been with the Institute for Biological Sciences (IBS) in Ottawa where she has filled various positions, including Head of Medical Biosciences Laboratory, and Director of Business Development and Administration. Dr. Adams has served on a number of committees related to biotechnology.
She was appointed to her current position 1 March 1993
