In July 2006, Dr. Tony Rahilly was named Director General of the NRC Industrial Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP), after acting in that capacity since September 2004. Prior to that appointment he had been NRC-IRAP's Regional Director for Ontario since 2001. He joined NRC in 1998 after holding teaching and senior administrative positions at community colleges and universities. Marketing, statistics and organizational behaviour were among the topics that he taught in the academic world.
Dr. Rahilly also has private sector experience as Director, New Product Development at a large pharmaceutical company. This followed various sales and marketing roles within the pharmaceutical industry, as well as working as a quality control chemist for Fry-Cadbury's in Dublin, Ireland.
In addition to his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University College Dublin, Dr. Rahilly earned two degrees from the University of Toronto including an M.B.A. in Marketing and a Ph.D. in Administrative Studies.
