Alan Pelman

NRC Council Member

Dr. Pelman holds a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of British Columbia. He began his career at Alcan Aluminum Ltd., rising to the position of Director of its Kingston R&;D Centre. Later, he became President of Powertech Labs Inc., an applied technology company owned by B.C. Hydro. Before taking on his current position of Vice-President, Technology-Canada, at Weyerhaeuser Limited, Vancouver, he served as Vice-President, Research and Technology with MacMillan Bloedel Ltd.

Dr. Pelman was appointed to NRC's Council in 2002 and reappointed for a second term in October 2005. He is a member of Council's executive and audit committees.
