Certified Reference Materials

Certified Reference Materials

The Certified Reference Materials Program of the National Research Council operates out of two institutes:

NRC Institute for National Measurement Standards (NRC-INMS)
NRC Institute for Marine Biosciences (NRC-IMB)

Certified reference materials (CRMs) for environmental analysis are available for purchase from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). These materials are produced by an NRC program operated jointly by the NRC Institute for National Measurement Standards (NRC-INMS), in Ottawa, Ontario, and the NRC-Institute for Marine Biosciences (NRC-IMB), in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Established in 1976,  this program has developed in scope and today NRC is internationally recognized as a producer of a variety of inorganic and organic CRMs. Product lines include environmental reference materials and shellfish toxin reference materials.
