Animal Cell Pilot Plant

The BRI Animal Cell Pilot Plant Facility is part of the Animal Cell Technology Group within the Bioprocess Sector. It provides a process development and scale-up platform, up to 100-L, for the production of bioactive compounds using animal cell expression systems.

Services highlights
The BRI Animal Cell Pilot Plant Facility can accommodate the following type of requests:

  • Development and scale-up of batch, fed-batch or perfusion cell culture processes up to 100-L scale for either Risk Group 1 or Risk Group 2 agents
  • Technology transfer based on operating procedures of an existing production process
  • Hands-on training: operation of bench scale (1-L to 3-L), intermediate scale (20-L to 40-L) or large scale (100-L) bioreactor systems for animal cell culture in batch, fed-batch or perfusion cultivation mode.

The BRI Animal Cell Pilot Plant Facility can also team up with other Groups within the Bioprocess Sector to provide integrated process development, from gene expression to purified and characterized bioproducts for preclinical studies.
