Publications RESPONSE TO THE 29TH ANNUAL REPORT
TABLE OF CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION The Annual Report of the Correctional Investigator (CI) is important input to the development of plans within the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). CSC concurs with the Office of the Correctional Investigator (OCI) on key issues and challenges, as identified in their Report. Indeed, CSC has taken action on many fronts, in order to further improve its capacity to meet its legislative obligations, as set out in the Corrections and Conditional Release Act. Some of the recommendations set out in the CI's Report deal with changes in administrative procedures or proposals for additional analysis or research. Given the scope of efforts required within the CSC to improve the implementation of existing standards, CSC cannot at this time, take action on all recommendations. Finally, CSC notes that much work was accomplished this year to improve Program delivery at institutions and parole offices throughout the CSC. Staff from the OCI has raised many issues with local staff and management that have led to improvements in situations for offenders and, in some cases, as well, for citizens supporting individual offenders. The following sets out the issues raised by the OCI and CSC's response to each of those issues. |
