BIJURAL REVISIONWe invite you to consult this section to learn more about the bijural revision of federal legislation in Canada. The purpose of the bijural revision of federal legislation is to examine statutes and regulations to ensure that they are consistent with both civil law and common law, in both official languages. This is a complex and ambitious undertaking as it applies to existing as well as proposed legislation. The statutes and publications listed in this section are among the most important achievements in legislative bijuralism. For example, you will find the harmonization bills and Acts that are a direct result of the bijural revision process. Furthermore, this section contains information about the foundations, objectives and methodology of bijural revision. Caselaw relating to the harmonization Acts and the relevant provisions of the Interpretation Act is also presented in this section. (to come) |
