The Youth Justice Renewal Initiative looks beyond legislation and the youth justice system to explore how society as a whole
can address youth crime and its associated factors. Read more about its directions and

- What are the differences between the new Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Young Offender's Act (YOA)?
There are fundamental differences between the old and the new laws. Among these are the Declarations of Principle, measures
to be taken outside the court process, youth sentences, adult sentences, publication restrictions, involvement of victims, voluntary
statements to police, advisory groups (conferences), and custody and reintegration. See a

- Are there any Youth Justice Renewal Initiative projects currently underway?
Yes. Read descriptions of various pilot projects in the areas of extrajudicial
