1-800 Service
The Canada Firearms Centre operates a toll-free information line that can
be reached at 1 800 731-4000. The purpose of the 1-800 line is to
provide information about the law to individuals, businesses or others who may
be affected by its provisions.
Hours of Operation:
The hours of operation of our call centre are as follows:
- on weekdays, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm nationwide, except for Newfoundland and Labrador where the line operates from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm;
- on Saturdays, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm nationwide, except for Newfoundland and Labrador where the line operates from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm;
- on Sundays, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm nationwide, except for Newfoundland and Labrador where the line operates from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm;
- on Statutory Holidays the 1-800 service is closed, except for the following holidays where the line operates on the Saturday schedule mentioned above: Easter Monday, Civic Holiday, Remembrance Day.
Answers to your Questions:
The operators are located at our Central Processing Site in Miramichi, New
Brunswick. They answer questions from the public about the Firearms Act and the firearms
provisions of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Where an operator is unable to answer a question from a member of the
public, the question is sent to the Canada Firearms Centre for reply. The
individual concerned will receive a callback and information within 3 business
days (longer during extremely busy periods).

Requesting Forms or Assistance
Through the 1-800 line you can request application forms to be sent to you by
surface mail. You can also ask the operators for help in filling out your
forms.
