Ultravideoconferencing and Work in Virtual Environments
Ultravideoconferencing and Work in Virtual Environments
NRC scientists are studying and improving the ways we work in new virtual environments. Here Pinchas Zukerman (right), Music Director, National Arts Centre in Ottawa teaches a violin lesson to a student in Montreal via ultravideoconferencing. Developed by a McGill University team, ultravideoconferencing is uncompressed professional video with no distortion and with minimal delay and top audio quality. The 240-Mb ultravideoconference feed is transmitted across the CANARIE CA*net4, the Internet of the future. By studying how well virtual technologies like ultravideoconferencing suit users' needs, NRC scientists are guiding future technology developments.
