Canadian Centre for Housing Technology Twin Test Homes
Canadian Centre for Housing Technology Twin Test Homes
They might seem haunted, but they're really wired with high-technology. NRC's Twin Test Homes are fully finished, 2100-sq ft, four-bedroom houses that are used to test the latest innovative housing devices, such as heating systems. The homes are identical. Devices are tested in the one on the left, while the other is used as an experimental control. The homes are highly automated. Each has 250 sensors to remotely measure factors like heat and humidity, and they even have "virtual families" that wash, cook and open doors.
