  Biography
Charles Greer is a Principle Research Officer and Leader of the Environmental Microbiology Group at National Research Council Canada's Biotechnology Research Institute in Montreal. He received his B.Sc.(Hon) degree in Biology from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and his Ph.D. in Microbiology from McGill University. Dr. Greer is an adjunct professor in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences of McGill University, and in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan. His research interests include the microbial ecology and molecular microbiology of the biodegradation of organic pollutants, the development and application of molecular tools and techniques for evaluating and monitoring biodegradation activity, the characterization of cold-adapted pollutant-degrading bacteria and microbial community structure, diversity and function. He is a section editor for the Canadian Journal of Microbiology, and he participates on various grant committees (NSERC, FQRNT).
