Mission Statement

The Centre de recherche informatique de Montréal (CRIM) is a unique Canadian centre for research and development, training, transfer, liaison and promotion. It is an active contributor to the socio-economic and industrial development of our society. It contributes by playing a leading role in the key area of information technologies and their applications, and by orchestrating new technology development for the benefit of its members, partners and clients. To this end, CRIM pursues R-D of international calibre, ensures the creation of added value via the transfer of expertise and technology, promotes the establishment of strategic alliances, facilitates networking, carries out techno-watch activities and contributes to the innovative training of a highly qualified workforce.

CRIM has four divisions, which are very active domestically and internationally in specific niches, ensuring a leadership position for Canadian industry:
- the Applied Software Engineering Centre (ASEC), which is dedicated to improving software processes;
- the Réseau interordinateurs scientifique québécois (RISQ) [Québec scientific computer network], which is the heart of the Internet in Québec;
- the Centre d'expertise et de services en applications multimédias (CESAM) [Centre for expertise and services in multimedia applications], which represents fifteen key multimedia companies; and
- CRIM Formation, which is the Quebec leader in advanced computer training.

CRIM serves as a focal point where the best Quebec expertise colaborates to offer product development and value-added goods and services. The Centre also offers a full range of transfer, liaison and promotion services to support the efforts of companies in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada. These include technology monitoring operations, specialty courses and seminars, scientific lectures, theme days and the incubation of promising technologies. CRIM currently has 94 members - 10 universities and 84 corporations and organizations.
