Mission Statement

The vice-rectorat à la recherche (VRR) is responsible for the establishment of general research guidelines as well as for the overall management of University research programs. More specifically, the VRR :

- promotes research, giving particular attention to the role of research in student training;
- provides services to researchers;
- distributes research management responsibilities among the various academic units (Faculties, departments or schools, institutes and centers);
- oversees the implementation of research policies and standards.

The VRR also insures that both human and animal research is conducted according to the highest ethical standards, by supporting the numerous research ethics committees that approve research projects.

Finally, the VRR manages the intellectual property generated by the members of the University.

The objectives of the VRR are to:

- develop research collaborations with local and national economic development partners;
- facilitate, in association with the Société de Valorisation des Applications de la Recherche (SOVAR), the transfer of research findings from University laboratories to industrial partners, in the interest of favouring economic growth in Québec and Canada.

Fee Structure

Business service charges are included in research contracts on the basis of generally recognized administrative overhead fees.
