NEW BRUNSWICK JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED

OTTAWA, June 19, 2003 -- The Honourable Martin Cauchon, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

Robert L. Tuck, Q.C., of Moncton is appointed a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench of New Brunswick - Family Division. He replaces Mr. Justice W. Graser who elected to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Tuck received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick in 1978, was admitted to the Law Society of New Brunswick the same year, and was appointed Queen's Council in 1998.

Prior to his appointment, he was a partner with the firm of LeBlanc McGrath Tuck where he practised in the areas of criminal law, labour and employment law, family law and civil litigation.

Mr. Justice Tuck is a chartered arbitrator, and a former President of the Canadian Bar Association, New Brunswick Branch. In the past, he was also a member of the Governing Council of the Law Society of New Brunswick, as well as President of the Greater Moncton Area Lawyers Association. He has been a small claims court adjudicator since 1999.

This appointment is effective immediately.
