, December 23, 1997 -- The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

The Honourable Mr. Justice Terrence Platana of Thunder Bay is appointed Regional Senior Judge of the Ontario Court of Justice (General Division) for the Northwest Region. He replaces Mr. Justice A. W. Maloney, who resigned from that position.

Mr. Justice Platana graduated in law from the University of Ottawa in 1971, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1973. Prior to his appointment to the Bench in 1991, Mr. Justice Platana practised law with the firm of McAuley and Partners in Kenora.

This appointment is effective immediately.
