QUEBEC JUDICIAL APPOINTMENT ANNOUNCED



OTTAWA

, January 30, 1998 - The Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:

Allan Ross Hilton of Westmount is appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Quebec for the District of Montreal. He replaces Mr. Justice G. Rouleau, who has chosen to become a supernumerary judge.

Mr. Justice Hilton graduated from McGill University with a B.C.L. in 1973 and a LL.B. in 1974, and was called to the Bar of Quebec in 1975. Since that time, Mr. Justice Hilton has practised constitutional law and commercial and civil litigation with the firm of McCarthy Tétrault, where he has been a partner since 1982.

This appointment is effective immediately.
